The HTMS Baseball team offers 7th and 8th grade students the opportunity to develop their skills and compete at a high level during the spring season. Players represent HTMS in games against area schools, focusing on teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. Tryouts for baseball are held in the fall for the upcoming spring season.

HTMS Boys Basketball is a competitive program for 7th and 8th grade students who are passionate about the game and committed to teamwork and growth. The season takes place during the winter, with players representing HTMS in games against other schools in the area. Tryouts are held each spring for the following school year.

The Hewitt Middle School Girls' Basketball team is a dedicated and competitive group of student-athletes who strive for excellence on and off the court. Focused on building fundamental skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship, the program emphasizes personal growth and team development throughout a full season of games against other metro schools.

In a historic achievement, the 7th-grade team captured the Metro South Conference Championship last season—the first time in program history. This milestone reflects the players' hard work, the coaches' leadership, and the unwavering support from the school community. With a strong foundation and growing momentum, the future is bright for girls' basketball at Hewitt Middle School.

The HTMS Cheerleading program promotes school spirit, leadership, and teamwork both on and off the sidelines. Our cheerleaders proudly support HTMS athletic teams at football and basketball games, as well as leading pep rallies. In addition to cheering sidelines, our squad competes on a national level earning 2nd place at UCA Nationals in 2025. HTMS cheer also participates in community events like leading TYCA Cheer Camp and appearing in the Trussville parades. HTMS Cheer focuses on building strong character, promoting a positive attitude and good work ethic, and developing the foundational skills needed for future cheerleading success. Go Huskies!

The HTMS Cross Country program is open to students in grades 7 and 8 who enjoy running and want to challenge themselves physically and mentally. Athletes compete in meets throughout the fall season, representing HTMS with teamwork, determination, and school pride. The program focuses on building endurance, discipline, and a positive team environment for all runners. Sign ups for Cross Country happen in the spring.

These student-athletes represent HTMS with pride as they compete throughout the season. With strong leadership from dedicated coaches, the team continues to grow in skill, character, and sportsmanship.

The HTMS Boys Golf Team competes as a spring sport and plays a Metro South league schedule. We play a number of great courses around the area, including Bentbrook, Highlands, Birmingham CC, and Timberline. The middle school golf season begins at the end of January and end around the middle of April. Tryouts typically take place in the fall. The HTMS Boys team practices at Trussville CC during the season.

The Hewitt-Trussville Middle School Girls Golf Team is a dedicated and fun group of young athletes committed to learning and growing in the sport of golf. Try-outs are typically held in October, and practices begin at the end of January. The team focuses on developing skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship in a positive and supportive environment. Our goal is to foster a lifelong love of golf while building confidence and camaraderie, both on and off the course.

Athletes work to improve speed, strength, and technique while representing HTMS at indoor meets. Sign-ups for indoor track take place in the fall.

This program emphasizes personal growth, teamwork, and sportsmanship as students represent HTMS with pride.

Our middle school softball program is built on a foundation of excellence, teamwork, and skill development while emphasizing sportsmanship and personal growth.

Over the years, our team has achieved remarkable success, earning four Metro South Tournament Championships including the 2024-2025 champion – finishing the season with a 13-0 Metro record.  The team also contributed to HTMS being named All Sports Metro Champions for the 2024-2025 school year.

Beyond middle school, our program has prepared athletes to compete at the next level, with players advancing to the four-time AHSAA 7A State Champion HTHS varsity team and earning scholarships to continue their education and softball careers.

With a strong commitment to player development and team camaraderie, our program prepares athletes for higher levels of competition while instilling values of discipline, teamwork, and resilience that extend beyond the game.

Tryouts for the 2025-2026 team will be held on June 2^nd and 3^rd from Noon to 3 p.m. at Goldie Paine Field.

The Hewitt Middle School Volleyball program is committed to developing well-rounded student-athletes through a balance of skill development, teamwork, and character building. Open to students who are passionate about the game, the program focuses on teaching the fundamentals of volleyball—serving, passing, setting, hitting, and court awareness—while also instilling values like accountability, resilience, and leadership.

Everything we do is structured to challenge players at all skill levels and promote continuous improvement. Coaches emphasize communication and sportsmanship, creating a team environment where every athlete feels supported and motivated. Throughout the season, the team competes against area schools, learning how to perform under pressure and grow from both victories and setbacks.

Beyond the game itself, the program also encourages academic excellence, time management, and school pride. Whether players are stepping onto the court for the first time or preparing for high school competition, Hewitt Middle School’s volleyball program aims to build a foundation for success both in athletics and in life.

Both the boys’ and girls’ teams compete in individual and team matches throughout the winter season, representing HTMS with pride and determination.
