Summer Reading List
HTMS Required Summer Reading 2026
Below are the summer reading lists for students entering grades 6, 7, or 8 in the fall of 2026. Students should choose ONE book from the list for their grade level. English teachers have developed these lists to try to meet a wide range of reading levels and interests. Within the first week of school, students will be asked to complete an assessment in class on the book they chose. To prepare for this, students may wish to take notes or annotate as they read their choice book. Some titles are available through our school’s SORA reading app, though there may be limited copies. Download the SORA app and choose Trussville City Schools. Students will need to sign in using their school Google account.
